first weekend

Our first real weekend all together here in Ocean City.
We tried to catch up on our sleep and get a few more things put away.
The kids and I started off the weekend spending some time at the beach friday morning.
It was packed, the surfers were out and in action, and I didn't bring my camera.
Oh well.  Memories of our first day in the sand are tucked in my little head.
The waves were huge.  (and cold!)
I got some new hair (darker & bangs) that is much more tasteful.  Woo hoo!  And, Shane and I were able to go out on on a date.  We went to our favorite...Sunset Grill and walked up and down the docks looking at all the HUGE boats in town for the Marlin Tournament.  And the kids had a ball with Michelle...our babysitter from last year.  Davis has decided he wants to marry her because she has "crazy eyes!"  It was awesome!
The kids played together all weekend while we got our house in order.  Here, they are playing "twins!"  It was so cute.  They were so excited to be sporting their matching shirts...this is some local team and shirts were given to us by someone at our garage sale the first time we lived here.
Today, we decided that we needed to get out for some hot sticky air...
We headed north about 20 miles to Pocomoke River State Park.
What a fabulous day.  There are only a handful of state parks near us, so we plan on taking advantage with our new bikes!  They had the coolest nature center.  It was like a mini classroom with tons of hands on activities for the kids, nature "dress up", computers with nature games, etc. (oh, and the coolest AC ever!)
It was a big day for sister.
She learned to push those pedals with those little chicken legs all by herself!!!  It was really fun to watch her get so excited.  Brother had a big day too...rode with no hands and kept up with us on the big trails.

So, it was good to be busy.
I'm still not feel 100% sold on being here.  I"m sure I felt this way last time.
It's hard to remember.  Maybe it's the two years that scares me.  And, we are just not that busy right now so I feel like we're missing out on things back home.  Don't get me wrong...I do love it here.  Such an incredible place to live really.  So much to do & see.  I'm sure with time things will get easier.

i'm sitting here looking at your photos from your bike outing and feeling such joy at this wonderful time you are spending with that precious family of yours. those kids are changing so quickly and neither of us has figured out how to freeze time, so i'm envious of your cool adventures. i love the spirit of adventure and exploration you have embraced while away. maybe that's the teacher in you. either way, keeping busy is a good idea.

plus you aren't missing so much here. just everyone worrying about getting things done before school starts and incredibly hot, sticky weather with no beach for miles and miles!

hugs!
